Introduction
The Shipping Golden Product allows you to add shipping and handling charges to quotes and orders while maintaining flexibility in how those charges are passed through to customers. It can be configured as a simple pass-through charge or marked up to recover additional handling and packaging costs. This article is designed to supplement the video below, with terminology and steps aligned directly to the walkthrough demonstrated.

Steps
Step 1 – Open the Shipping Product
- Navigate to Settings → Products.
- Locate the Shipping Golden Product in your product list.
- Open the product.
- Select Configure Pricing.

Step 2 – Configure Shipping Pricing
- Locate the shipping pricing configuration.
- Click Edit.
- Review the Unit Cost value.
- Review the Unit Price value.
- Save any changes.
By default, the example product is configured as:
- Cost = $1.00
- Price = $1.00
This setup creates a direct pass-through of shipping costs to the customer.

Step 3 – Configure Markups (Optional)
- Open the pricing record.
- Adjust the Cost, Markup, or Price values.
- Save your changes.
This allows shops to:
- Pass through shipping costs directly.
- Add profit to shipping services.
- Recover packaging or administrative expenses.

Step 4 – Test Pricing Using Check Pricing
- Click Check Pricing.
- Locate the Shipment Cost field.
- Locate the Handling Charges field.
- Enter sample values for both fields.
Examples:
- Shipment Cost = Carrier shipping rate
- Handling Charges = Packaging or processing fees
The system combines these values when calculating the final shipping amount.

Step 5 – Review the Shipping Calculation
- Enter a shipping cost.
- Enter a handling charge.
- Review the Pricing Breakpoint section.
- Verify the calculated price.
The calculation process:
- Adds the Shipment Cost and Handling Charges together.
- Applies the configured Unit Cost and Unit Price settings.
- Displays the resulting charge.
This allows you to verify how shipping will be quoted to customers.

Step 6 – Enter Shipment Details
- Navigate to the shipment information section.
- Enter the Quantity of Boxes.
- Select or enter the Shipping Carrier.
- Enter the Tracking Number.
- Save the information.
Examples of carriers include:
- FedEx
- UPS
- DHL
- USPS
- Other local carriers

Notes & Tips
🔹 Tip: Use the Shipping Golden Product as a pass-through charge when you want customers to pay the exact shipping cost.
🔹 Tip: Add handling charges to recover packaging materials, labor, or fulfillment costs.
🔹 Tip: Enter tracking numbers so customer service and production teams can quickly reference shipment information.
🔹 Tip: Review your shipping markup strategy periodically to ensure profitability.
⚠️ Warning: Shipment Cost and Handling Charges directly affect the final shipping amount presented to customers.
⚠️ Warning: Tracking numbers and carrier information do not affect pricing calculations.
⚠️ Warning: Be sure to update pricing settings if your company charges a markup on shipping services.
Outcome / Summary
After following these steps, you should be able to:
· Configure shipping pricing and markup settings.
· Add shipment costs and handling charges to quotes.
· Calculate customer-facing shipping charges accurately.
· Record carrier information and tracking numbers.
· Document shipment details for internal reference.
· Manage shipping as either a pass-through expense or a profit-generating service.
