Introduction

The Postcard Digital Golden Product allows you to manage postcard pricing through a flexible grid-based pricing structure. By maintaining pricing based on quantity, stock specifications, and postcard size, you can create accurate quotes while keeping pricing easy to update as costs change. Steps

Step 1 – Open the Postcard Digital Product
  1. Navigate to Settings → Products.
  2. Locate and select Postcard Digital.
  3. Open the product to access its pricing configuration.

The Postcard Digital product is built using a Grid User Interface (Grid UI), which functions similarly to a spreadsheet.

Step 2 – Access the Pricing Grid
  1. Open the product and click Configure Pricing.
  2. Review the pricing grid.
  3. Enable Show Cost Column if you want to view or edit production costs.
  4. Review the Unit Price values, which represent the customer-facing selling prices.

The pricing grid stores all pricing combinations available for this product.

Step 3 – Understand the Three Pricing Variables

The Postcard Digital product uses a 3D Grid, meaning the price is determined by three separate variables:

  1. Quantity
    • The number of postcards being ordered.
    • Examples: 100, 250, 500, 1,000.
  2. Stock & Sides
    • The paper stock and print configuration.
    • Example: 12pt C2S (full color printed on both sides).
  3. Size
    • The finished dimensions of the postcard.
    • Examples:
      • 5.5" × 4.25"
      • 5.5" × 8.5"
      • Additional configured sizes

Each combination of these three variables corresponds to a specific pricing cell within the grid.

Step 4 – Manage Cost and Selling Prices
  1. Locate the desired pricing cell based on Quantity, Stock & Sides, and Size.
  2. Enable Show Cost Column if needed.
  3. Review or update the Cost value.
  4. Review or update the Unit Price value.
  5. Save your changes.

The Cost value represents your internal production cost, while the Unit Price represents what customers will be charged.

Step 5 – Understand Quantity Breakpoints
  1. Review the Use Quantity Breakpoints option.
  2. Determine whether your postcard product is sold individually or in quantity sets.

Quantity breakpoints are designed for products sold as individual units, such as:

  • 1 to 500 units at one price
  • 501 to 1,000 units at another price

Since postcards are typically sold in quantity sets such as:

  • 100
  • 250
  • 500
  • 1,000

the Use Quantity Breakpoints setting is generally not used for this product.

Step 6 – Export and Import Pricing
  1. Click Export Grid.
  2. Download the generated CSV file.
  3. Open the file in Excel.
  4. Update pricing and cost values as needed.
  5. Save the file.
  6. Import the updated CSV back into shopVOX.

When imported, the file will overwrite the existing Cost and Unit Price values with the updated information.

Using Excel for bulk updates is typically much faster than modifying numerous cells directly within shopVOX.

Step 7 – Verify Pricing Using Check Pricing
  1. Click Check Pricing.
  2. Select a Quantity.
  3. Select a Stock & Sides option.
  4. Select a Size.
  5. Review the calculated selling price.

Example:

  • Quantity: 500
  • Stock & Sides: 12pt C2S Full Color Both Sides
  • Size: 5.5" × 4.25"

The system will retrieve the appropriate pricing cell from the grid and display the corresponding unit price.

Notes & Tips

🔹 Tip: Use the CSV export/import process for bulk pricing updates. This is significantly faster than editing multiple grid cells individually.

🔹 Tip: Enable the Show Cost Column option periodically to review profitability and validate margin targets.

⚠️ Warning: Importing a CSV file will overwrite existing Cost and Unit Price values. Always maintain a backup copy before importing major pricing changes.

⚠️ Warning: Quantity Breakpoints are typically unnecessary for postcard products because postcards are generally sold in predefined quantity sets rather than individual units.
